The Peasant and the Priest
This documentary explores the region of Tuscany as witnessed by two individuals: a peasant (Mezzadro) still living under the medieval sharecropping system, and a priest ministering to women working as sex slaves. The film offers a re-reading of this much-loved region, a landscape shaped and continually transformed by co-existing extremes of human labor, cultivation and exploitation. This project shows history as a living continuum in which care of the land and care for each other are interwoven.
A 45-minute documentary film currently in post-production.
